Common Questions Answered

  • What's the difference between a strategy session and a discovery call?
At ACM LAW GROUP, a discovery call is a 15-minute introductory call to go over the basics of your legal needs and introduce you to the law firm. A strategy session is an hour long Zoom meeting during which time we will go over your legal needs in depth and create an action plan to move forward. Discovery calls are $30 and strategy sessions are $250. The cost of both will be applied to your balance should you retain us.
  • How long does the process take?
    On average, 12–18 months.
  • How much is a consult?
Our consults are 15 minutes and cost $30 which will be applied to the cost of your services should you choose to retain us.
  • How do I book a consultation?
Click “Book Now” or Click Here. Most services start with a discovery call.
  • What should I bring to my first meeting?
Bring any related documents (contracts, filings, letters), your questions, and a notepad. We’ll handle the rest.
  • Do you offer flat rates or payment plans?
Yes—we offer flat-rate pricing for most services, and Affirm is available for you to be able to split your payments.
  • What’s the difference between a copyright and a trademark?
Copyrights protect original creative works (books, music, designs). Trademarks protect brand identifiers (names, logos, slogans).
  • What happens if someone files a trademark for my name before I do?
They may gain legal rights to stop you from using it—even if you used it first. The sooner you file, the better.
  • Can I trademark my name, slogan, or logo?
Yes—names, slogans, logos, product lines, and even sounds can be trademarked if they’re used in commerce.
  • Do I need a trademark if I already have an LLC?
Yes. An LLC gives you a business structure in your state. A trademark gives you nationwide rights to your brand name or logo in your industry.
  • What if I already started using the name—can I still file?
Yes. We file based on actual use or intent to use. We’ll walk you through the best option for your timeline.
  • What’s the difference between a word mark and a logo mark?
A word mark protects the name itself. A logo mark protects the design. You can register one or both, depending on your brand strategy.
  • Do you handle Office Actions and USPTO refusals?
Yes. We respond to refusals and can help fix filings gone wrong—whether or not we filed it initially.
  • Do I need to register a copyright to be protected?
You have basic rights once a work is created, but registration gives you legal power to sue for infringement and claim damages.
  • How long does a copyright last?
For individuals: your lifetime + 70 years. For businesses: 95–120 years depending on publication date.
  • Can I copyright content on my website or in my course?
Yes—your written content, downloads, and visuals are all eligible for copyright protection.
  • Do I need a real estate attorney for a closing in Georgia?
Yes. Georgia law requires attorney involvement in real estate closings—not just title companies.
  • Do you represent buyers, sellers, or investors?
All of the above. We tailor our services based on your role and deal type.
  • Can you review my purchase contract before I sign?
Absolutely. We offer flat-rate contract reviews to make sure your rights are protected before you commit.
  • Do I need an estate plan if I’m young or single?
Yes. An estate plan isn’t just about death—it protects you in life with tools like power of attorney and medical directives.
  • Can I update my estate plan later?
Yes. We recommend reviewing it every 3–5 years or after a major life change (marriage, kids, buying property, etc.).
  • What’s included in a basic estate plan?
Typically: a will, power of attorney, living will, and healthcare directive. We also draft trusts as needed.
  • Will I lose my home or car?
Not necessarily. We help you apply exemptions that may allow you to keep your assets.
  • Do I need to take credit counseling before I file?
Yes, and we’ll guide you through that required step.
  • How long does bankruptcy stay on my credit?
Usually 7–10 years, but most clients start rebuilding credit within 6–12 months.
  • What’s the difference between Chapter 7 and Chapter 13?
Chapter 7 wipes out most unsecured debt (credit cards, medical bills). Chapter 13 sets up a payment plan. We help you determine what’s best.
